The WaterShed

From an engaged community and a drive for climate change awareness, emerges a new visitor experience.

As the community turns its focus to climate change, The City of Boise is rethinking the role of its Water Reclamation Visitor Center—The WaterShed. The City hired Council to lead them through a visioning process of what a water and climate science experience might look like. The backbone of the process was engagement with a variety of stakeholder groups: staff, city officials, middle school teachers, home-schooling families, climate change awareness educators, and youth. The collaboration ranged from meetings to discuss potential exhibits to a climate conversation with high school students captured with graphic recording. The resulting vision centers on the voices, ideas, and images captured in these discussions. The new exhibition space will use listening, sharing, and local connections to spark authentic moments of empowerment for the Boise community.
