The Discovery needed help with one of its beloved experiences—Truckee Connects. Visitors loved playing in the interactive stream but weren’t making the connection between the fun activity and the museum’s aim to build awareness about the Truckee River watershed, on which the city of Reno depends. Council was tasked with leveraging a modest budget to redevelop the space and better meet the educational goals. We also used the opportunity to give the entire gallery a face lift and improve some visitor flow and safety concerns.
