Inside Out

An Anatomy exhibit enlivened with hands-on activities and engrossing artifacts in an exploratory space that mimics the human body.

Visitors to Inside Out dive into the curiosities of human anatomy. Through captivating, hands-on exhibits, they uncover the amazing ways human bodies work, grow, age, and heal. Council worked with The Discovery in Reno, NV to develop a modest-sized space that could tackle the huge topic of human anatomy. Instead of being encyclopedic, the approach was to explore the curiosities of human biology and provide avenues for visitors to better understand their own bodies.

The final installation included over 30 hands-on interactives layered in the 2,500SF gallery. Activities ranged from exploring slides of microbes, to uncovering the functions of various organs using augmented reality, to a sensory chamber that demonstrates how light helps eyes determine color. Exhibit forms were designed to mimic the human body and create nooks and crannies for visitors to discover.
